The original Batavia was built in 1628 and although shipwrecked on her maiden voyage is reknowned. The brutal stories of mutiny and massacre among the survivors is compelling. A 20th century replica ship participated in the Sail 95' event. - I love the addition of the man climbing the ropes...gives a nice feel to what is constantly being done aboard these giant sea vessels
