The Andrew Doria-originally named the Defiance-was the first US fighting vessel, having been purchased by the Continental Congress in 1775. A tribute coin by our long-time friends...the Dutch..who were the first country to give the US recognition by the honor of an 11 gun salute upon the Dpria's arrival at Fort Eustatius in 1776. - A very large, over-sized coin--larger than a silver dollar..this beautiful 25Gulden barely fits in a regular NGC encapsulation..
