Medal, 1904, BR, UNITED STATES EXPRESS CO., U.S. Mint, So Called Dollar HK-736 Brass, NGC AU58, Cert# 2540517-024. These medals were struck at the U.S. Mint. According to Julian, 100 were struck in silver, and an additional 20,891 were struck in brass and bronze combined. Obv. Involved design of large horseshoe and rays within wreath; winged strongbox within horseshoe partly conceals lettering on shoe, reading around United States Express Co.; below strongbox 1854; on horseshoe, to l. Trade, to r. Mark; in small block at top of horseshoe Security / Dispatch; beaded border; Rev. In / Commemoration / of the / Fiftieth Anniversary / of the / Founding / of the / United States / Express Company / 1854-1904; beaded border. Ex Steven Glovsky.
