Co 12.; around Souvenir from California's Playground; beaded border.Medal struck for dedication of Construction of a "Breakwater"; issuer and designer unknown but struck by Los Angeles Rubber Stamp Co. (later LA. Stamp and Stationery Co., which went out of business in the 1960s). Actually, two dedicatory ceremonies held, marking both beginning and completion of project, March 25, 1933, and Aug. 5, 1934, respectively. Size: 38.1 mm. Struck in several different metals. The composition of HK-687 is Aluminum and it is listed in Hibler-Kappen (1963) as "rare." NGC graded this piece MS61, however it looks to be under graded. Attractive and somewhat elusive in mint state.
