Owner Comments:
Medal, 1933, AR, MONTANA SO-CALLED DOLLAR, 1933 Montana Dollar, MS63 NGC. HK-820. Silver, 39.7 mm. With fewer than 100 examples believed extant, the Montana Dollar is clearly an underrated issue. These were provided to members of the Montana Silver Association, which cost $1 to join, in lieu of membership cards. Each medal contains one troy ounce of .999 fine silver. Obv. Mining Scene, Incused M in hillside, Silver the Key to Prosperity 1933, Rv. Modified Montana State Seal, Oro Y Plato (Gold and Silver). The current example is deeply toned yet refreshing in its originality. 2,225 medals were originally struck, according to Hibler and Kappen, fewer than 100 specimens exist today. Rare and Expensive in Mint State.
