Owner Comments:
1893 Chicago Columbian Exposition Saint Gaudens Award Medal. Sculpted by Augustus Saint Gaudens to commerate the 400th Anniversary of Columbus's arrival in the New World. The original reverse was deemed to be too "racy" and The U.S. Mint's Chief Engraver/Designer Charles Barber created a new reverse design which was used on the coin.
