Sometimes referred to as mini assay medals because the reverses are similar to assay medal designs, this medal was sold by the mint as list number 646. Earnie Keusch identified 17 varieties depicting eagle reverse designs or various dated Philadelphia Mint reverses. Presidents Harding/Mint reverse (642), Coolidge/Mint reverse (643), Hoover/Mint reverse (644), Truman/Mint reverse (650) and FDR (646) are list medals. The mints final year of production of these medals was 1972, five Coolidge and 1 FDR. They are about 33mm and of higher relief than the miniature Presidential medal series that began in fiscal 1971.
