Jose I gold 3200 Reis 1773-B UNC Details (Cleaned) NGC, Bahia mint, KM183.1, LMB-379, Guimaraes-1773-1.1. Not only the first we have handled, but the first to hit auction floors in recent years. Precisely struck, displaying needle-point devices and an impressive bust, all surrounded by glossy, semi-reflective fields. From the coppery toning, one can conclude the cleaning was done decades ago, a common practice from collectors in the 20th century. The sole piece graded by either NGC or PCGS, with eye-appeal to spare, will likely engage Brazilian type collectors.
