Owner Comments:

Bronze and .900 fine silver medals were struck in 1970 at the Philadelphia mint to commemorate the three hundredth anniversary of the founding of South Carolina. 20,000 small bronze and 3,000 small silver National Commemorative Medals were issued and distributed by the South Carolina Tricentennial Commission. The large and small medals produced at the U.S Mint contain the ā€œPā€ mintmark on the obverse. The small bronze medals are not edge numbered. Large and small bronze and small silver medals were also produced by Medallic Art Company with slightly modified designs and do not contain the ā€œPā€ mintmark.
