Owner Comments:

This National Commemorative Medal was struck at the Philadelphia Mint with the “P” mint mark. Medals were sold by the Memphis Sesquicentennial Corporation to commemorate the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the city of Memphis, Tennessee. 40,000 bronze and 10,000 .900 fine silver were produced. A second run of silver medals was produced with a lower mintage, perhaps 5,000. The second variety includes “MSII” on the reverse design.
