Owner Comments:

Bronze and .900 fine silver medals were struck in Philadelphia mint for the Diplomatic Courier Service. 4,000 bronze and 1,000 silver medals were issued. Gold plated bronze medals were included in a “First Day of Issue” postal numismatic cover (PNC) official first day cover sponsored by the U.S. Diplomatic Courier Association dated Aug 17, 1972. This is well after the original bronze and silver medals were offered by the US Diplomatic Courier Service.
