Decent portraits are hard to come by on these coins, and they are usually really wavy. I had two other ones before that were inferior despite increasing grades. This one is about where I want to be, with both faces nicely rendered and showing up on the coin well.
These Catholic Monarchs represent a turning point in the story I am trying to tell with these gold coins. Once they finally financed Columbus and the New World opened up, a whole lot of new gold was about to enter the system. It also spelled doom for Venice and other cities dependent on trade from the other direction.
