Owner Comments:

Copper/Nickel 3 cent pieces where first struck in 1865.This coin,however;was not the perfect example 3 cent piece it was intended to be.It was struck off-center by about 15% and was encapsulated as a mint error coin by NGC.The coin was graded XF- 45.It is a very interesting early error coin which was struck sometime during the last year of the Civil War.
