Owner Comments:

Tyrian Shekel, Tyre mint (Jerusalem mint, possibly), Year 162 = AD 36/37. Laureate bust of Melkart right (known to us as Hercules) / Eagle standing left on prow, palm over right wing. Text reads: TYΡOY IEΡAΣ KAI AΣYΛOY, "Tyre the Holy and City of Refuge". Club (hardly visible) and date PZB to left. KP monogram to the right (found only on Tyrian shekels minted after 16/15 BCE, scholars theorize its an acrostic that stood for "By Authority of the Roman Constitution" Biblical references: Matthew 17:24-27 & Matthew 26:14-15
