As you can see from the coin, Iran's Qajar ruler at the time, Ahmad Shah, was very young.
Wikipedia expresses the opinion that: "Collectively the war was a devastating and humiliating experience for Persia and its people. Over 2,000,000 civilians died either directly in the fighting, the Ottoman perpetrated genocide or the war induced famine of 1917-1919. The Qajar Iran's inability to maintain the country's sovereignty during and immediately after the war led to the British directed 1921 Persian coup d'état and Reza Shah's establishment of the Pahlavi dynasty."
