Carlton House originally belonged to the Earls of Burlington and was purchased by Frederick, Prince of Wales, in 1732. It faced Pall Mall and overlooked St. James' Park. Later it was almost completely rebuilt for George IV when he was Prince of Wales, he resided in it as Prince Regent and also as the King.
