The significant of this 1993 coin was its scallop shape, instead of the usual traditional round. PBoC issued this new variety for the ever popular lunar silver coin series, proof finish & weight of 2/3 oz.
Surprisingly, PBoC reduced this series plan mintage to 6800 pcs, from the 1st series of round shape 10,000 pcs.
In this first scallop series, 8 coins(1993-2000) were 2/3 oz, 4 coins from 2001-2004 were of 1 oz, hence fore, all scallop shape silver Y10 coins were minted with 1 oz.
