China modern coin began in 1981, with traditional Chinese folklore as the theme, started with the Rooster in the Lunar calendar, an auspicious animal to lead the other 11 animals.
In this same year, PBoC also issued a similar 8gm Gold proof coin.
Uniquely in this first Lunar Silver 15gm series, this coin was minted with 30 Yuan FV, followed by Dog 20 Yuan, hence fore FV 10 Yuan from 1983 onward.
