Christian IX (1818-1906) ruled Denmark from 1863 upon the death of Frederick VII, until his death in 1906.
Issued in 1903 to commemorate the 40th year of his reign.
Obverse: bust of Christian IX to right with his titles and anniversary dates. Reverse: a seated woman holding the royal shield, a flying dove to the left. The motto With God for Honor and Justice surrounds.
