An 1800 C-1 NGC graded Draped Bust 1/2 cent in FINE Details Cleaned Condition.Actually a pleasing looking coin for an Early American 1/2 Cent in this condition and a slightly more difficult date to obtain.On December 12,1800 Washington,DC became the official capital of the United States.On Saturday November 1,1800 the 2nd President of the United States John Adams and his wife First Lady Abigail Adams became the first occupants of the newly built White House.Construction had begun on October 13,1792.It had taken about eight years to build only to be destroyed when fourteen years later it would be burned to the ground by British Soldiers on August 24,1814 during the War of 1812.
