1994 Presidential Inauguration R5 Coin - Mint State MS 60
Over 19 years ago, on May 10th 1994, Nelson Mandela was inaugurated as South Africa’s first Black president at the Union Buildings in Pretoria, signifying the start of our new democracy. This momentous occasion was commemorated with the minting of the first known South African 5 Rand coin with the Union Buildings featured on the reverse, and the old coat of arms on the obverse of the coin.
This was South Africa's first R5 coin, a momentous symbol of our democracy which holds great potential both economically and symbolically.
