Design: OBVERSE: Lodewijk (Louis) Napoleon, bust facing left. Legend – “LODEW. NAP, KON. VAN HOLL” translates “Louis Napoleon, King of Holland” ~ REVERSE: Legend around inner circle with standing knight in full armor holding a sword and a sheaf of seven arrows. The seven arrows signify the unity of the northern provinces, which banded together and signed the union of Utrecht in 1579, which was there declaration of independence from Spain. Date flanking. Legend – “.EENDRAGT – MAAKT MAGT.”

? Issued under French control of the United Netherlands by Louis Napoleon, Brother of Napoleon Bonaparte (1806-1810). As King, Louis placed his subjects’ welfare ahead of his brother’s request. Because of this Napoleon deposed Louis in 1810 and annexed the Netherlands into the French Empire.
