1869 25C Standard Silver
Judd-723, Pollock-804
Rarity: Low R.7 ; PR64BN
Struck in copper with a reeded edge
Obverse: Bust of Liberty wearing a cap ornamented with three stars with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around and a scroll with "IN GOD WE TRUST" . A ribbon across Liberty's shoulder is inscribed LIBERTY.
Reverse: The denomination "25 CENTS' in the center of a wreath composed of oak and laurel leaves, "STANDARD SILVER" is above the wreath and the date "1869" is below and outside the wreath at the border
Comment:
Both sides have fully mirrored surfaces beneath intense blue, green, and gold toning. A few pinpoint flecks and minor planchet granularity are all that limits the grade. This Reverse type was paired with all three 1869 25 Cent Obverses
