JNDA 01-42. The Dansco calls this a 'dove' but in reality the bird is the Golden Kite. The bird is featured strongly in mythology as a companion and guide to the first Emperor, and by legend either blinded or led astray an enemy army by shining rays of light. Even the rays of light are depicted on the coin. Definitely not a dove. Maybe the anti-dove. Not a dove at all.
This wartime issue shows the shift to 'smaller and lighter'. It's made of aluminum and during its short production (3 years) underwent 2 weight reductions.
Diameter 19 mm. Aluminum.
