Owner Comments:

Medal, 1840 (ND), AR, ROYAL SOCIETY OF AGRICULTURE SILVER AWARD MEDAL, Signed By Braemte (Famous Belgium engraver, who designed Belgium's early coins), Belgium (erroneously labeled France). NGC AU58, Cert# 2777023-010. Struck in 1840. Size: 42.8mm. Weight: 36.8g. Obv. Royal Agriculture and Botanical Society of Gand (Ghent). Female bust with elaborate headress woven with a wreath of fruit, flowers and grains; Rv. Ornate Wreath Decorated with Fruit, Leaves, Berries, etc. around curved edge, Blank Center for Inscription, This was made to be presented as a prize medal but since it was not inscribed with a recipient’s name it was presumably never issued.. Attractive and Scarce. Ex B. Hunisi Collection. For additional information, See Guioth's Histoire Numismatique De La Belgique, published in 1851, number M on Plate VIII.
