Medal, 1964, BR, MONTANA CENTENNIAL OCTAGONAL $50 SLUG, Bright Finish, United States, So Called Dollar HK-UNL, NGC MS65, Cert# 3046921-010. Brass Medal, approx 41mm. Another 1964-dated so-called dollar that is, of course unlisted in Harold E. Hibler and Charles V. Kappen's 1963 edition of So-Called Dollars: An Illustrated Catalog with Valuations. The "obverse" (face-up in the NGC holder) side has "Montana Territory" and "Fifty" with "O.H.F." on a scroll above an eagle. The "reverse" (dated 1864-1964, face down in the holder) side has concentric circles in the center with "Montana Territorial Centennial 1864-1964" surrounding. The whole design, including the octagonal shape, is reminiscent of the 1851-53 Augustus Humbert fifty dollar slugs. Attractive Medal and Popular Type.
