Medal, 1937, AV, GEORGE VI CORONATION MEDAL, Great Britain, (Small Size: 23.34g.) Medal by P. Metcalfe, the official Royal Mint issue, 32mm, (BHM 4314). PCGS PR64DCAM, Secure Holder. Elmer-2046b. Obverse: Profile portrait of George VI facing right, with the inscription: GEORGE VI CROWNED 12 MAY 1937. Rv. Matching Portrait, also facing left, of his wife, Queen Elizabeth (Lady Elizabeth Bowes Lyon later to be known as the Queen Mother), and the inscription:- QUEEN ELIZABETH 12 MAY 1937. Most of these medals exhibit serious hairlines and other imperfections, this one is an exception. Also includes the original red box dated 1937 with Crown, Coronation Medal in Gold. Great Britain, George VI (1936-1952). Purchased at the Chicago ANA World Fair of Money, August 2013, from Atlas Numismatics.
