Owner Comments:

A morbidly curious medal with an image of the Milburn House in Buffalo, New York, where President McKinley died on the morning of September 14, 1901. The obverse depicts a floating hand with pointed finger at the very room with the death bed. As with the other McKinley assassination commemoratives, this was issued few weeks of the expo. Though the last few weeks of the fair had some of the highest turnout, at the time, organizers of the expo blamed the assassination for lack of higher attendance and the financial failure of the fair. The medals commemorating the tragedy are scarce which seems to be related to the short time these medals were available.
