View Coin 1971-D FEP United States $1 1971 D Friendly Eagle Pattern PCGS MS 66 "Friendly Eagle Pattern" A pattern proof die was used on this 71-D. It has features seen nowhere else in the series. Perhaps was an intended die for 71-S Clads that never materialized, then got "recycled" at Denver.
View Coin 1971-D Single Talon Head United States $1 1971 D Single Talon Head PCGS MS 66 A single "Talon" clashed die mark protrudes from Ike's temple area.
View Coin 1971-D Double Talon "Far" United States $1 1971 D Double Talon "Far" PCGS MS 63 Two Talons that do not overlap and do not lie within the distance of a TH diameter. Distinctly uncommon.
View Coin 1971-D Double Talon Head "Near" Plus Chopped E United States $1 1971 D DTH Chopped E PCGS MS 65 Very scarce "Near"Double Talon that has the "Chopped E"...Where the top bar of the E in WE is significantly "chopped off". Some of these are Peg Leg as well. This one is not.
View Coin 1971-S Faded Peg Leg (FPL) United States $1 1971 S Silver Peg Leg PCGS MS 63 Also known as DDO-007 with a nicely Doubled Die Obverse. Scarce!
View Coin 1971-S Straight Peg Leg (SPL) United States $1 1971 S SILVER NGC MS 64 Much scarcer than the "Faded" Peg Leg.
View Coin 1972-P Type 3 Talon Head United States $1 1972 TYPE 3 NGC MS 65 A very scarce and distinct Talon Head Philly Ike. Very nice colors on this one!
View Coin 1972-P Type 3 Double Talon Head "Near" United States $1 1972 P Double Talon "Near" PCGS MS 63 A very scarce Philly Double Talon Head with the Regular "R". Clash marks don't overlap but are not far enough apart to designate "Far"...Thus, this one is a "Near" DT. Looks like a crab claw on Ike's head.
View Coin 1972-D Peg Leg/Talon Head United States $1 1972 D NGC MS 66 Talon Heads are not too hard to find...72-D Peg Legs are a little tougher. This one has both.
View Coin 1972-D Peg Leg/Talon Head & Chopped E United States $1 1972 D NGC MS 64 Very Scarce! This variety has it all!...the PegLeg, Talon Head as well as the "Chopped E" where the top bar of the E in WE is "Chopped off". The "Chopped E" is only found on the Denver 1971,1972 & 1974 Ikes.
View Coin 1972-D Double Talon Head United States $1 1972 D Double Talon Head PCGS MS 66 Struck on freshly abraded dies to try and "fix" clash marks. One can see the Talon with naked eye, but it takes a loop to see that there are two of them close together.
View Coin 1974-D Regular "R" Single Talon Head United States $1 1974 D Single Talhon Head PCGS MS 64 The R in LIBERTY has serifs and there is a single Talon.
View Coin 1974-D Double Talon Head/Peg Leg "Chopped E" United States ON A 1974 D $1 STRUCK 40% SILVER PLANCHET 24.5G NGC MS 60 This coin has it all! Besides being a Peg Leg/Double Talon Head "Near" it also has the "Chopped E" where the top bar of the E is much shorter than it's supposed to be. This die was also used on at least 2 of the 74-D struck on 40% Silver planchets.
