Set Description
I like bust halves a great deal, but unlike many other enthusasts, I do not have the patience to collect by die marriage. Instead, I buy coins I deem to be "pretty" which means a combination of original design and nature's additions. On a more practical note, I look for coins with nice colored toning, particularly on the edges. Many of these coins were likely stored in Wayte Raymond albums for many years, but today they seem quite hard to find. I have been on this quest since 2003, and so far have found 3 coins that I like. So at a rate of 1 per year, it may be many years before this set is of a large size. Also, I have only purchased coins for this set in person, as most photos of toned coins (including my own) do not really do them justice. So take a look and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

View Coin 1827 United States 50C 1827 SQUARE 2 O-104 NGC AU 53 This was the first of the colorful busts that I purchased at the PNNA show in 2003. I saw this lonely bust half at one dealer's table and the price was extremely reasonable so I took the plunge. The beauty of the blue toning on the edge really piqued my interest and I've been looking for similar coins ever since. I haven't yet attributed this coin, and I don't know that I'd even try given the number of marriages for this date, but perhaps when I get the time and motivation I will send it in to NGC for the Overton attribution.
