View Coin 2 Oz Proof Libertad Varieties MEXICO - 1905 TO DATE .999 fine silver 2 Onza 2015Mo Mo SILVER DETACHED WING NGC PF 69 ULTRA CAMEO This is a new find and a very interesting new variety not seen in the Libertad Series that I am aware of. The right wing(left as viewed) area where it touches Lady Liberty has been polished out, leaving a blank mirrored surface. I had 5 coins from 2015 in the 2 Ounce size, and, this was the only specimen with this issue. My hunch is at some point the dies needed repair work, and, after completion, the new coins struck show the "Detached Wing" clearly.

Population is 1, just this coin for now. Since only 1,300 of these 2 Oz Proofs were minted, yes, there may be a handful more out there sitting in people's collections. The Mo Mint is known for virtually flawless workmanship, with minimal issues. The workers MAY have stopped production if and when someone may have noticed this naked-eye visible flaw, and, this coin may be the only one ever found. Time will tell.
I looked for clashing remnants, as this is usually a main cause for die repair work, but, on a proof coin, clashing would be so visible, NO way the workers would let one of those leave for circulation into the market, so, the reason for the abrasion work may remain a mystery.
