Outstanding Canada test token (from the 1996 Canada Test Token set) with great luster and strong strike. Inner core has some light brown toning, mostly along the edge. Light contact marks and scratches are present commensurate with MS63 grade. Cost: $19.17 on 11/6/16 on eBay from David Dowling (ddowlin1).
Face Value: TEST TOKEN. Composition: 99+% Ni (outer ring); 92% Cu, 6%, Al, 2% Ni (inner ring).
Weight: 7.3 grams. Diameter: 28 mm. Edge: Interrupted Serrations. Mintage: 20,000.
Legends: "TEST TOKEN" and "ROYAL CANADIAN MINT" (in French on reverse) on the outer ring on both sides.
Design: 3 maple leaves on the inner core on both sides.

Composition: Nickel-plated bronze. Mintage: 9,534. Other specs are the same as the 2004 circulation loon dollar.
The 2004 Test Token set is a tribute to the world's first colorized circulation coin. It includes the 1-, 5-, 10-cent and $1 and $2 test tokens as well as the colorized 25-cent poppy test token and the actual colorized 25-cent coin.
To aid in the numerous coin manufacturing processes, the Royal Canadian Mint test tokens are struck for the various stages of production. In fact the first test tokens date back to 1907. Test tokens are utilized in areas such as die and die coating testing, plating process modifications, dimensional testing, material tolerance, edge profile, coin collars, conformity of the electromagnetic signature of the coin amongst others.
