This was the first comic I ever saved up to buy. I bought it for $16 at Moondog's comic shop, and in 1980 it was all the money in the world. I took it to a con and met Jim Shooter. He was incredibly friendly and told me that his contribution to the story was the way Death Stalker died - (spoiler alert) by materializing in the tombstone. Despite this being a hugely popular key, there are only 63 SS books on the census in a 9.8.

Issue 159 was a difficult one to get in a 9.8, signed. It's got a beautiful cover by Miller, with the characters upside down as they plummet underwater. This is another incredibly difficult book to get in a 9.8, with only 9 signed books on the census.

This is such a great cover. Love it. It so clearly shows at the same time how both deadly and deranged Bullseye is. He's an amazing baddie with no super powers - just exceptional talent. Only 21 on the census.

This classic copper wit Bullseye was hard to get but I love it. I hope to add Klaus's signature to the cover soon - stay tuned. There are currently only 19 on the census.

163 has such a beautiful cover - it really emphasizes Daredevil's underdog status, showing him desperately grabbing his billy club with both hands, while the Hulk stands ready to easily crush him with one empty hand. This book is arguably the hardest Miller DD from this run to find in a 9.8, though honestly I'm not really sure why. It may be that there's a lot of black on the cover, and is probably also because the run really hadn't taken off yet, so there weren't as many copies preserved by collectors. All that said, I do love it and am really lucky to have it in this grade, as there are only 7 on the census, and this one is signed by both Frank and Klaus.

This book as such a beautiful cover. I've always wondered why they made the blood black, as I don't think Battlin' Jack was a bad person, just a desperate person who made bad choices before he redeemed himself by paying the ultimate price. There are only 16 on the census.

This one came out a little bit before I actually started reading the run. I think I was reading things like Richie Rich until I turned to this run in a few months. I remember going back and getting this one a bit later, and I really love the cover. 12 on the census.

This book has such a classic cover. It really shows the peril Michelinie put Daredevil in - he's not only being choked but someone has a scope pointed right at his head! This book is really, really hard to find in a 9.8, as there are only 14 on the census.

This huge key launched the revival of Daredevil as a Marvel character. Miller and Janson's introduction of Elektra (famously mis-spelled "Elecktra" on the cover) launched a re-imagination of Daredevil's origin story as later told by Miller and JRJR in the Man Without Fear run. It's a beautiful issue front to back.
Also, I'm particularly fond of this issue because, after getting into Daredevil, I went on to become a trial lawyer and married a Greek girl. Not kidding.

Bullseye is insane. So is how much this book goes for. I didn't realize for the longest time that all those bodies around Bullseye are Daredevils. 14 on the census.

First Kingpin in Daredevil. What more can you say? He's unequivocally my favorite villain. No superpowers besides his brain and his wealth. He forces writers to really be creative, but when done well, there's nothing better than a good old-fashioned psychological thriller. I haven't read any better comic run than "Born Again," and that all started right here. 17 on the census.

In this one the Kingpin punches DD square in the face. It's one of my favorite panels in all of the run. If you have the book I recommend you check it out. Only 15 on the census.
