I picked up Canto in 2020 and found my tiny hero with a clock for a heart. Full of hope and courage, Canto’s story is expressed through an amazing narrative with crazy good artwork. In life, it feels like we are all racing against time much like Canto. Often, we race to the end only to realize that it’s just the beginning. Like Canto’s life, our lives are about the journey and those with whom we experience it, not about the destination. I built this collection of top-rated comics to express and share my love of Canto’s story.

I love the dichotomy demonstrated in Zucker’s cover which shows rays of power shooting from Canto’s axe, suggesting a supernatural power. In contrast, an underdog, Canto’s power comes from inside and truly rests in friendships and a sincere trust in them.

The Robles cover is one of my favorites, as it shows Canto in a restful walk with axe on shoulder. On pilgrimage through the creepy forest of hidden dangers, Canto looks over the shoulder to check the six o’ clock. Do the emanating lights ahead hold treasure or misfortune, only time will tell.

I love Goux’s haunting cover which shows Canto looking over shoulder. Overshadowed by the slaver with broken horn, sharp teeth, and glowing eyes, Canto must find the hope and courage to believe it is possible to escape, survive the journey, and find a heart.
