Set Description:
Hulk is the Immortal Avenger, and with many 1sts in this series, who can put them together? Captain America? These "Ones for Good" that are standing, almost stand all alone, but inevitably come together with a unified effort to be victorious! Their path though wide and turning, they hold fast the straight and narrow, face front! Avengers Assemble! The cry from beyond our imagination, to the realism of morals portrayed. The hope of a world, from that ever-present danger.
They've Assembled, They've Congregated! Even a few went to church to pray for humanity!
Like purging a threshing floor, more and more are sought after within a "legacy set!" This way comes the "ones for assembly" and onward "AVENGERS!" Seeing is believing when we have those rarish opportunities to put action to words, which is not always to say putting your money where the mouth is. Moving beyond the realm of possibility to procure the 1sts and run issues, we must act quick, and we all have those issues that made an impact and are must haves within a collection. From ADAMANTIUM to even Ultron's, it takes a certain cooperation with any team and among the usual banter after reading to estimate victory in acquiring those dire issues and with vast calculations. Captain America to the Hulk, from Thor to Iron Man, a Wasp and or Ant-man, the Avengers are bringing it! Forward and to the forefront, making a living avenging isn't easy, and for the goal of getting together in one accord that we may be made to forge these registry sets.

1st Avengers! Signed by Stan Lee! On 10/31/15. That's HALLOWEEN! I tried a new Local Comic Shop, Comics Asylum! Sitting there perched was this beauty! Love the few and far between times that I can "afford" a BIG book, and in complete "Universal" grade, I'll take it! I had to make a trade, however, for this comic. I came away satisfied! Sometimes we've got to put in the time and effort for the accumulation of worthwhile books for trades! I believe they're worth it! I've seldom spent over $500 for any comic. It takes the guess and the foreknowledge for newer valued books to be traded for something as established as the AVENGERS! Assemble your comics and go down to those trusty dealers? Hey! I came away with a win, to be sure. We shall see in the long run, and I feel confident. Making this Avengers addition to the collection is great to keep in grade, as far as I'm concerned, even in lowly 0.5! It's an awesome signature series by Stan Lee, and I'm the proud new owner.
Complete with back cover picture of those that know and love the Lord, are called according to His purpose, and take into account the Christ Faithful and True, a Savior's strength!
Traded the following:
X-Men 266 CGC SS 8.0 Claremont newsie, New Mutants 98 CGC 7.0 direct, Batman Adventures 12 direct CGC 8.5, Secret Wars 8 direct CGC 8.5. I threw in X-Men #134 in blue CGC 7.5, and a certain 9.2 Batman Harley Quinn 1999 #nn, this and ASM 344 direct CGC 9.8! I only had $1,216 into those books, but they were on the rise in value, so thankful! I'll be back to that store!

1st appearance of the Space Phantom. 2nd app Avengers? Already the Hulk leaves the Avengers? lol Back couple of pages has some issues, otherwise a great presenting 2.5. That front cover really tells all you need to know. The Hulk superimposed by the Phantom, take it or leave it, is the Hulk Green Monster Down for the Count? Keeping it Avenger themed though, nice #2 even in lowly 2.5! Picked it up from the Local Comic Shop Keith's Comics for only $200!! Woot-Woot! I'll take that nice gesture all day long, and they had a slab sale to "build up for the winter of 2022" and I hope my contribution helped. Always need to support the LCS in any form or way. I like that they even had some "CGC" in the sale, as they had other slabs, and that is probably why they needed the rummage type sale! Keep it Local, although nothing wrong with supporting any reputable dealer.
Complete with a back cover picture of the prescreen pass before released to streaming of, "Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2!" It takes those intuitions and especially when there is no veneer to know a "Cobra" when you see one. Daniel is a dad and looking to discover the mysterious knowledge of his now past master, as the Miyagi-Dojo lives on in tournaments, but a cobra doesn't necessarily change its spots, even if one member of the Miyagi-Dojo is attempting to gain some. The Hulk in this issue is the same, as he is taken over by the Phantom, and perhaps the Wasp was in the zone to then help the Karate-Kid Avengers!

1st Silver Age Appearance of Captain America (Steve Rodgers). Awesome and Classic Cover, which caused me to make a financial adjustment to get this book! SO Worth it! Captain America is classic himself and dawns this cover ready for action! Along with reliable partners, Cap Is Back! Bought from the boardie "Spidey-Fein". An awesome flashback of an origin and bringing back the "American Way" for good ole' Marvel. Facing front already, Stan is cultivating some old habits with Kirby returning, and as always, they knock it out of the park. Give me some Marvel or make mine Marvel! Just no Marvel Chipping Please. It kind of goes on to be continued in Captain America issue #100, where the team expounds on events happening in this issue. In short, Captain America is back, and he's formed team ups to eventually get his own title series again!
Complete with a back cover picture of the prescreen pass before released to theaters of, "Three Thousand Years of Longing!" Has Captain America been "Trapped Under Ice?" As long, seemingly, as it took Metallica to again play that titled song again at a concert. Yes, and yes, seemingly! As the first Silver Age appearance of Captain America like this film with a djinn shows what he would want to do after waiting so long to join the breathing realm again! The film comes by it easy with a genie explaining, everyone just wants love! Ah Captain my Captain what will you do? "3 thousand years will give you such a crick in the neck!" ~ Robin Williams in Aladdin!

multiple tear back cover;
small, multiple chip out cover;

Stan Lee Story; Jack Kirby and Chic Stone cover and art. Early issue classic battle. Everyone needs the comics of old! These older issues really do hit home. The bands that tied were formed in these classics, among newly born heroes that had the character to form and establish. This is where they fight themselves. Call it bewilderment or just a plain misunderstanding; it always seems to be. These disagreements will make a firm foundation of complaints between the heroes for future banter. Building the characters is always a good idea and it was well done. Give it up for Stan and Kirby! Maybe even this was a first appearance of the character "Bucky", in some circles is thought of as such, it is a time-honored tradition for teammates and sidekicks, but having an Avengers book on the roster is quite the accomplishment. Knowing what we know now? Onward and upward!
Complete with a back cover picture of scrap booking from when I was a kid, all things relative in Texas weathering conditions vs style! We all had that Avengers itch and got our fix early on, with multiple posters and with an enormous number of characters.

1st appearance of Count Nefaria. Fantastic Four cameo. Stan Lee story. Don Heck and Dick Ayers art. Jack Kirby and Chic Stone cover. Some originals who twist up the art and the plot into something "nefarious!" That eclipse's the whirlwind of the page that astounds from the cover onward and given Kirby's previous work by this time it had become his bread and butter. Got some trade in credit at local comic shop, Awesome Comics! I got this CGC 5.5 for $130 total and it was another hot summer day, which happened to be New Comic Book Wednesday. I need to remember that those are busy days, and not a day to trade in per se, but that is the day they put out all the "new stuff!" Ironic. That is when the bells and whistles go off anyway, like a warning system made for tornadoes; Avengers in the collection have fared worse, but I'm all for the Silver Age even with trade in credit for the likes of Stan and Kirby! The Wasp is critically injured in this issue, provided that copies of the team and not clones were made for combat, however the nomenclature of those imposters are similar in scope to that of tornado warning/watch, don't always have one before the other!
Complete with a back cover picture of the prescreen pass before released publicly of the movie, "TWISTERS!" That it is the hunt for the nerves to tackle a warning system, all while in a nefarious like cyclone. The Avengers have fared worse, but not by much up to this point, enter Stan and Kirby!

1st appearance of the New Masters of Evil. Full page ad for Silver Surfer #1. Silver Surfer being Stan Lee's "favorite" doesn't come lightly into the collection, if one of these "masters" was to be the Ultron in disguise, what then? Ultimate doom that now takes the cake for the Avengers! Peaceably added and with room to spare, from the Local Comic Shop "Awesome Comics!" Early morning weekday and with a bit of breakfast errands to do, 2023. Got the free loving spirit that comes with this old label copy slab, complete with past marked notes of "bondage cover!" It is my understanding that CGC has now done away with this kind of labeling, such is life. To those inclined it can be plainly seen as a feat of strength on the cover, and what may become of the Avengers? Alas, the following issue obtained early enough on shows the 1st appearance of Ultron as the "reveal." We've got the time and stories at "Marvel", and we will indeed.
Complete with a back cover picture of the prescreen pass before released to theaters of "Terminator 2: Judgment Day?" Arnold and Co. pulled a switcheroo! Similar to the "Ultron's" of the world being in "disguise" with his judgement always pending and Metal Mania happenings, they advertised the prescreen as Terminator 2 back in theaters one time only, which turned out to be in fact a showing of Dark Fate the Terminator film! Just to see if true fans would show up! Glad I went.

1st appearance of Ultron-5 Crimson Cowl revealed as the dreaded Ultron. There have been Movies and I've read Ultron stories, he's a serious villain with some serious MOJO!! He's out for blood, and when he finds out about ADAMANTIUM in issue #66 LOOK OUT! That is one tough hombre, dare I say "ULTIMATE" tough! Though that phrase and name would be used later in comics, these hero's somehow find the loophole to hold off devastation for another day. This is what good character building is supposed to do. Make a team actually work as a team, good writing. Things like this will always be sought by those who experienced the awesomeness of plausibility. It takes a good back and forth to make it work, but on its own sometimes seems a simple idea. Thank God for ongoing series and mainstays like the Avengers and so forth, that carry on the legacy to see ideas hashed out and brought to fruition! Complete with the Movie Treatment, Ultron has been around as a formidable foe since the Silver Age of Comics. Always thwarted so far, and this time by some unlikely Avengers. Getting stories and plots under the belt so to speak and fleshed out but not quite the ultimate foe specifically to the Avengers.
Complete with a back cover picture of a Blu-Ray DVD, when the ultimate collection of Avengers cartoon movies hit the stores, my brother bought it for me and is one of the films that got me going to theaters early on!

1st Appearance of the Good Ole ADAMANTIUM! Classic type of metal used in the Wolverine and many others lives, causing joy, misery, and pain. That's a force that is reckoned with the AVENGERS! They take to it with their experience and fancy battle plan, and all after their usual banter. Somehow teamwork is going to play out, usually, and glad to have the experience in these years with comics. As the time and place is hard to originate experience without some planning or character building, but for the most part, it's been a year-to-year excursion of FUN WITH COMICS! Nowadays the new material doesn't grab as much attention, unless it is really conceptually possible like a "fancy new suit." The innovations of old almost seem completely up to date in real time, with exceptions, to and in reality. Though the thoughts and dreams of older conceptions were innovative, today there is just so much going on we only hear of the major attractions! SCIENCE!
Complete with a back cover picture of, a raw copy signed by Roy Thomas that I got accomplished, and thanks to the boardie Crops068 (Brian). I got to meet Mr. Thomas in person at the Local Comic Shop "Duncanville Bookstore". An awesome meeting and a celebratory time! Read the story and with a new version of Ultron, if he had got his mitts on the ADAMANTIUM in the story, we'd be singing hail to the chief.

1st Liberators. One in disguise gets the drop on the "men" if it isn't too much, she may just trick the Avengers! Look out for the Double Cross in this issue of the women taking action! It has a "Date or Price" stamp on it, but that just makes it genuine. Got to give this book some credit for the onslaught of a cover. It opens up the possibility that the past will be old or for a minute the new will be the norm. Is this really the transition they had in mind? Will it prove permanent? What the next level will be and how it all transpires is the question! It is the ole' switcheroo in the book. Bought a raw to read. As copies of this come and go for me, I've only found the one 8.5 that was worth keeping, yet it is one of the more riveting or ongoing narrative in modern times as well. Glad to have a representation of something that started a long time ago, although not as clearly identified.
Complete with a back cover picture of, "The Bronze!" Since this Avengers issue marks that beginning, I'll top it off with Melissa Rauch, who was in the Big Bang Theory TV show. Nerds! As the Feminine cherry topper gets all the more about being comfortable with who you can be in this day and age!
Grader Notes:

very light crease right top of front cover;

Patsy Walker Becomes HELLCAT!! With a Two-Gun Kid Appearance. I have Golden Age Patsy Walker, sweet copies to read, and I'm glad to add this 9.4 to my collection and registry! Avengers Assemble! That Cat has the groove and the catchy name to make the grade. She's an oldy but now a goody, no longer just a goody two shoes, but putting on heel kicking boots. She is so awesome in her first appearance as HellCat proving she has the Moxy. Others remain impressed and I hope the rest of her stories are just as good; although, I haven't ever heard much of it. Do not despise small beginnings. It takes a village, but some participants are older than others. With that revisioning and possible potential, anything can be utilized to bring about a fresh perspective. A writer that see's the goal of what might work can then ponder for a few issues to see how well it fits!
Complete with a back cover picture of, Patsy Walker #11 that I bought from Keith's comics for like $15. Patsy Walker wasn't a "dame", she was a lady! Patsy was also the name of my grandmother, so good company now as a back cover pic with #11. These ladies have inspired their followers for ages and the time to reminisce is always worth it!

1st appearance of Scott Lang (later becomes Ant-Man II). New Avengers line-up. Scott Lang given it his best! Great presenting old label Near Mint 9.4! Bought from Dave and Adams for $159 in 2022. I sold a Sideshow Campbell Black Cat Statue that cost $244 for only $160, but it was enough to purchase this "Avengers" and that is satisfying all its own! Indeed, had been lacking on my older books and slabs. There have been "raws" that have been found, but nothing beats the slab purchase for an emotional booster to get back on track. I like Ant-Man as there seems to be room for comedy that "fits" and is not forced. An Avenger that has stood alone on the movie charts, and also eventually with the help of fellow hero the Wasp. This issue decides who stays and who goes! Ant-man has got to prove his salt and make that cut! Staying ahead of the game takes some discipline but groups together get it done.
Complete with a back cover picture of the prescreens theater showing the actual screen of when I saw Paul Rudd, who is the current and eternally young Ant-Man Scott Lang in Marvel films, show his acting chops in, "Ghostbusters: FROZEN EMPIRE!" His portrayal is the first back cover picture of the actual movie screen that I put up in the registry. "Busting made him feel 'good', when who you going to call? GHOSTBUSTERS!" A classic line in the film and it was a hoot and a half, to show the kind of actors we need for any "other" ANT-MAN PORTRAYAL'S!

1st cameo appearance of the Taskmaster, white pages, white cover mostly, and hard in 9.8. Will the Black Widow movie succeed? The Taskmaster is not an overused character, so it has some hope, and he is a bit eerie to behold! Still some white covers are notoriously hard in 9.8. I had a raw to read and this story makes the next issue a payoff. I had to buy it already slabbed, due to making certain I got it in grade. We've got the Taskmaster at the end after the struggle, we've got some distress too. Can't keep a good team down. Until next time? Taskmaster wants to take advantage of the battle worn. That's a low blow if I do say so myself, now go see what they're up against! After seeing Black Widow, the movie, it wasn't so bad, but I'm definitely not as picky as I used to be with feature films. The movie did seem a bit sluggish but eventually got it done with a little help from the hand-to-hand combat!
Complete with a back cover picture of the photo from Fan Expo Dallas of, McKenna Grace! She starred in "Ghostbusters: FROZEN EMPIRE!" A long-anticipated line up starring Paul Rudd who reinvigorated Antman, along with Saturday Night Live alumni Dan Akroyd and Bill Murray, and with Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts! A long-awaited return in franchise fashion, here to bust some ghosts that would rival the asylums that in this Avengers issue they infiltrate! Got to keep that sober mind to bust ghosts. Even Annie and McKenna have starred in a show together, as coworkers, called Young Sheldon! In this universe those that "bump in the night" are presumed 'bad' until proven matchless for the good! FIRE! McKenna character flirts with the line of good ghost bad ghost, and it takes all kinds under the good book!

Origin and 1st appearance of Taskmaster! Awesome Green Cover. There he is, ready for battle on the cover and soon to be the enemy in the movie Black Widow, starring Scarlett Johansson. Seems a good match, and I own Avengers #195, which has the Taskmaster cameo! Well now you've got the full force and is it all going to go downtown? "Book'em Danno!" From haughty to naughty, from confident to inferior. Taskmaster is finished and the Avenger triumphant. There may be a new story with Antman as the hero, the next time Taskmaster tries to rue the day. Superficial? Maybe. Accurate in precision, indeed the Taskmaster is a master, but his work of study is not effectively efficient to concentrate on the task at hand. He could be a teacher with those kinds of skills and get a day job to earn some cash, ha! Often it is a life of crime that will cause the ultimate discipline and to repent to a task that is profitable, and a student to such is the "key" to surpassing the title of "master!"
Complete with a back cover picture of the next issue to possibly find slabbed, and with the Hawkeye stringing up the Ant-Man in the related Avengers issue #223. The Taskmaster is back in this issue, although it is wits oriented. My reader copy bought from Awesome Comics, LCS, for $8!

1st appearance of Nebula. Ka-Zar, Shanna, Zabu & Terminus appearance. Who is dating who? By the count of the 3rd Guardians of the Galaxy movie it could be a free for all and sharing the LOVE! That takes some serious getting used too, and hopefully the characters have another showing down the line. Good for what they were, and so far, these characters such as Nebula have touched thousands of hearts. With the willingness to see the "greater good" or just turn away from evil, it takes all kinds to become fruitful for collectors and their favorites. I'm willing to now back track to other familiar favorites to fill out runs, although I'm not especially one for the word "favorites", these are just the ones I obtained first due to the impact and availability. With space, planets and missions: take evasive action and let God sort them out? Taking it one day and step at a time, it leads to a prosperous but difficult journey that we've taken it upon ourselves to filter through our minds the comics and adventures, even we as fans!
Complete with a back cover picture of the insides and 1st appearance panels of NEBULA, from my under-copy reader raw! She is named, and even manages to get off a shot of cosmic blast. Don't be quick to judge, we've all had itchy triggers and ears, but there is time to learn. Even as her name is first mentioned, it stumbles and stutters out of the guard's mouth, got to live up to that reputation!?!

First appearance of Maria Hill. Wolverine cameo. These New Avengers issues are taking the world by storm! Lucky enough to have found them cheaper in bin dives, these issues are now being graded at CGC. Yes, 9.2 is nothing to sneeze at, found at a favorite DVD store of mine, "this'll do pig!" Give me the bargain hunting $4 key book, any day. Coming up empty more often than not, makes a weary traveler all that much more appreciate the reward. Maria, ah my Maria! Yes, with a David Finch cover of the Spider-Woman to boot! That is all well and good, even if just a funky series of them, when the "New Avengers" are trying to fill out the roster with newer members, as not all are qualified! These New Avengers are serving it up hot with the Spider-Woman becoming relevant and heating up the covers. Take that all day long, especially when boardie F for Fake confirmed that he picked up these issues too. They were not all that popular at the time. Of Course!
Complete with a back cover picture of the Street Fighter Sideshow statue of, "Sakura!" Showing a fighting stance in spirit, which also graces most Spider-Woman covers, and both being a bit of a tomboy, these are the street fighting thwarters of crime as the sweepers of the leg! A Ryu and Ken fangirl at an age of 16, Sakura is showing that role models go mostly after their original mentors for tutelage, and Spider-Woman is no stranger to that role of heroics!
