Set Description:
Great Firsts and Lasts. Who will make it out of this set alive? It may be the end of us all, the way prices are going. The price of admission isn't cheap, the hill to climb is steep, but they are all great reads! We can leave the pride at the door; we've got loads of fun in store! The Bronze Age sends us reeling, with newcomers and passersby. New ethics that leave us salivating and wanting more. In the modern age, traces still can be seen, take a seat and feel the slow burn! Many a start, that turns out to make it work.
Spidey is as Spidey Does!
Spider-man doing only as a spider can, while beating the drum slowly toward inspiration and motivation. It is swinging here, still early on, with deaths, heroes and villains, and the likeness of good vs evil! It isn't new to a Peter Parker by this point, and still, it is the new situations that are determining the outcomes of the already overburdened early adult, in Amazing Spider-man! These adult fiascos are proving that street smarts go well beyond the city of normal every day "Joes" to a circuit of crime and devolvement unlike Peter Parker has witnessed from his schooling. Oh, he has read up on the over-the-top scenarios but is now living with his own skin in the game. Survival and the makings of a well-rounded Spider-man will find a team player in himself and AlterEgo or will come to the end of himself to ask for help! Steady as she goes. You've had too much to think now you need a wife, steady as she goes! ~ Raconteurs

1st appearance of Morbius, the Living Vampire (Doctor Michael Morbius). Lizard appearance. Last 15 cents issue. I bought this 2022 December as prices are tending to come down a bit. I've owned the 2nd appearance and origin for quite some time, although I wanted a decent mid-grade copy of the 1st app, I could never swing it until now from eBay. Older label, and sure to fit the collection nicely! They even spelled the "Morbius" name correctly on the 1st appearance as opposed to the 2nd, a running joke. The movie was dismal but when it came to the silver age of comics, it is still worth a pickup! This #101 issue is just after having ran for 100 issues, and they weren't quite done with the Amazing Spider-man story line, it would be built on the backs of "greats" for years to come. I'm just happy to have grown up hearing of the older tales, and to now see them celebrated, is a sight to see! $503 Cost.
Complete with a back cover picture of the prescreen pass before released to theaters of, "Lisa Frankenstein!" As the search for body parts continues in comic and movie form, you decide which is worse: the feeding to stay alive by blood or harvesting parts of those passed on to reattach to the living dead? Those are spine tingling sensations that are Vampires and Frankenstein's alike!

Origin and 2nd Apppearance of Morbius! Classic Old Label! This character is being brought to film; will it bring new blood to the franchise? Morbius is a "living" vampire, and as not undead, he must find a place to function with his newfound abilities! An oldy but goody origin, what would be considered shaking it up or a preemptive strike, back then. Nothing new with Vampires? Just got to make it stick and give Spidey 4 arms! It'll work. You'll see. Now taking a step back to today's big picture and work it DOES. Time is a fickle friend sometimes; we go back to a classic can always be a classic and cross our fingers. Misspelled on the cover with Morbius is worth noting, that was a fun error, and it gives the issue a story. Who would have thought Spidey with four arms would take a back seat, but Morbius now transitioning into something grander will always be cool!
Complete with a back cover picture of the prescreen pass before the movie comes out in theaters! To a "Vampire" movie of sorts, starring none other than Nicholas Cage. Rated R for blood, gore, and some drug use. I'm not sure if it is a comedy, dramedy, or just an all-out spoof!

1st appearance of Sha Shan, who is an Asian Character that Eddie Brock tries to date, seemingly it gets heated, and they don't always agree on the relationship. She could be used in Eddie's story and/or be a more developed character for sure! A David Micheline letter in the back, who went on to work in comics. Yes, it isn't a new love story, yet it's the most probable. The actors and actresses in the Venom Sony movies are from all backgrounds. Tom Hardy tries his best. I was there for a prescreen several times. It's fun to think about, yet the role needs some work, they've expounded in the comics with a kid for Eddie. Sha Shan has moved on to government work as well, so if the Spidey and Venom universe is to be all inclusive, we'll have to wait and see where it all winds down the relationship trail. For sure we like the action, and quality to the characters always needs to happen!
Complete with a back cover picture of the prescreen pass before released to theaters of, "Midway!" Integral to the situation of Vietnam, which this comic features Flash Thompson's plight in the war, there are the tales of compassion. While the world of comics tried to find love in the balance for the high cost that some had to pay, comics also told of the avenues and attitudes involved!

Doctor Strange appearance. Stan Lee story & John Romita cover and art! The duo of writer with artist are back again and keeping up with the "Strange" goings on! Stan Lee liked to try and write from the cuff but with some symbolic references close to the "Truth", however when he goes with Dr. Strange, he does the best from an imagination and with some feedback from others. Here is no different and with Romita Sr illustrating the comic, it is sure to please! A nice yellow cover at that, picked up this December 2023 from Titan comics, paid well to make sure I recoup and get some Spider-man in my collection this year. Time was running out! Glad to wind down the year with some of my main man, Spidey! Dr. Strange is getting in his licks on the cover, and it is so early on that the down to business attitude is sure to make the insides a good read. Merry Christmas!
Complete with a back cover picture of the prescreen pass before released to theaters of, "Angel has Fallen!" A similar type of modern iteration in film, as opposed to the comic issues of Amazing Spider-man #108 & #109 where Flash Thompson tries to stop a military airstrike on a temple in a foreign land and gets blamed for it, the movie follows a government agent who is framed for a drone strike on an elected official. There are many parallels in the entertainment industry that coincide with comics, and with a bit of serious "simpleness" we can learn morals from funny books! A story as old in time with new faces and powers that be!

moderate spine stress lines to cover.

1st appearance of Hammerhead. Doctor Octopus appearance. That Hammerhead is one mean hombre! Similar to Flat-top in Dick Tracy, we've got the flat head and big forehead. Also similar, is the fact it seems to be a gangster motivated villain, that gets around! All we need is a tommy gun and a brief case and we've got a spy tech thriller. Spidey's sarcasm goes over like a lead balloon and makes the straight-talking Hammerhead furious. Not willing to play the game of tag with the Spider-man, old Hammerhead goes in for the headbutt. Ka-plow! Those webs better hold old hot head to the rafters. In only 6.5, which is fine +, but I'll take it. Gives you the chills to think of the idiosyncrasy that was this time for comics, relative to the period that they take place and represent. The early 70's speaks back to television, such as Scooby-Doo, "Where are you?" A bunch of quirky fun! $83 Cost.
Complete with a back cover picture of the prescreen pass before released to theaters of, "Bad Times at the El Royale!" Gangsters were everywhere at this time of publishing, and the movie takes place as a similar in picture time period piece. Brazen are the gangsters that aren't afraid to show their face or usual hide outs! Enter Hammerhead!

Spoiler Alert!! Somebody is in Danger! Glad to have picked this up in my early days as a bundle with issue number 122! I'm glad the seller was able to work with me to get it. A key issue for so many reasons, Peter Parker/Spider-man will not be the same. Picking up some steam and with the multi-verse, who knows what will be? We know what has been and Mary Jane seems the one to keep around. For all the love stories in comics, Phoenix is 2nd and Gwen is 1st. We remember fondly the woman dropped and not saved, as she has gone on before us, and Peter must come to terms, while the past is there to look back on. Those that we remember fondly, having knowledge of personally, never lose the remembrance of the crimson stain that has been washed and forgiven by us! Only to think well of them! In short, forgiveness and love are needed when those that are taken from us is seen as unjustly as Gwen, and it takes a stout firm faith to then reconstitute that innocence and forgive a person. We do not always think it fair, a sense of stain on the memory that only forgiveness and love can heal.
Complete with a Sam De La Rosa print of Gwen Stacy, the Atomic Blonde herself with brand name ChapStick! Signed by Rosa! The print is from the first ever comic con I went to, a smaller one back in 2014-15, and the last $20 I had to spend, was really broke afterwards, worth it! $175 Cost.

Spoiler ALERT!! It's on the cover! Spider-man is out for blood. A common issue but is respectable to add to my collection. Glad to have picked this up with issue #121 at the same time. I'm in it for the long haul! Keeping with the upset, the Spider-man is not down for the count. Goblin's will pay in the name of the dead. Many years down the road, Parker will explain that it was an accident and understand his mistake. Never easy and always with a lump in his throat, Gwen is dead. The Green Goblin is quick to pass the buck, yet Spider-man is tough and will see to it that it doesn't happen a 2nd time. Though it almost comes to pass on several occasions, to the disbelief of Peter Parker. How many times will the scenario then play in Spider-man's thoughts and mind, while affecting his actions and decisions to be made personally and publicly.
Complete with a back cover of the lighthearted pass of time, yet Spidey is still learning and from all sources. Oh, to have love and lost, it is better. Time to upgrade could happen, although reader copies are more awesome. $175 Cost.

Harry Osborn becomes the Green Goblin and the plans for the spider-mobile begin! Lots of ACTION INTENSIFIES!! Human Torch and Kangaroo Appearance! Oh Kangaroo, you just don't know what is behind the actions you do. Never realizing the bigger picture and to have any real motive. Harry? You've just gone crazy, picking up a mantle that will never be enough to quell the motive. Spidey soon after has his questions too yet will always lean and lean hard on his support network. These are the lives of the rich and famous. Ha! Makes for a splash page of, "What will come next?!?" I bought this from the Dave and Adam's website for around $175. A 9.6 for that price in 2017 or 2018 was a good price. Even with the events of media and such, these Goblin issues are numerous but exciting! I was new to them, so I tried to add to the collection the best I could and am super happy with this addition. $175 Cost.
Complete with a back cover picture of a little earlier in the run, issue of Amazing Spider-Man #125, to know what Spidey is coming off the heels of, and a key issue in its own right! Spidey keeps having to be defensive when the "villains" get the first strike!

1st appearance of the Punisher (Frank Castle) and the Jackal. Signature Series by Stan Lee. Mark Jeweler insert and one of the first 4 books I got signed on 6/4/16. I dropped them all off at the Fan Expo Dallas 2016, which was my first bigger comic con. A 3.0, but with white pages. Many years from now, I hope mine is still as unique as it is today, no matter the grade! A great story, as the Punisher thinks Spidey is the bad guy. At the behest of a character named the "Jackal" there is seemingly information that is being fed to the Punisher, to get him to try to take the Amazing Spider-man down. Fast on his feet, Spidey escapes the bullet meant for him, among rooftops and talks some smack! Not to be out done the book wraps up as a plan foiled, but maybe foiled for another day, which means coming to terms with new enemies and friends.
Complete with a back cover picture of the ongoing adventures involving the Punisher, in gallery statue form. Hoping always to protect, and yet casualties happen, all in a day's work! Some grim exiles to last see the Punisher before their demise! Such a dynamic personality that spoke to the times. $467 Cost.

Punisher cameo. Cameo in a 2nd Appearance? Maybe it is more the 1st appearance of the Tarantula, and some details are needed to stop him. I enjoyed reading this issue. With the Tarantula Party crashing a boat and Peter Parker on board with his mates, it shapes the story. Not knowing how to secretly become Spider-man to stop the jewelry theft, chaos ensues. With a Punisher cameo, until the end he still wants to find the Spidey or the Tarantula and lay it all down for the web-crawler! Harry has been listening and putting a puzzle together, will this further his ambition? A lovely Very Fine Plus copy, glad to have added it, as I had speculated on it a bit. I bought this at a smaller con in Irving, Texas, early on when coming back to collecting for like $10. It looked in great condition and I had a gut feeling that it contained a Punisher appearance. I wasn't sure at the time being real new back to the hobby, and I mainly bought it to find out, at the time. I also bought another yellow cover with it, in 2017, an X-force #11 that came back CGC 9.6. Believe it or not they were both from the same price $10 BIN back then! $103 Cost with slab.
Complete with a back cover picture of the "screen for photos", featuring an Assassins Creed outfit where it looks like a shell-back TMNT, and with a Ralph Macchio and William Zabka guest appearance, at the prescreen before released publicly of, "Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2!" In the film as well this issue of Amazing Spider-man the kicks fly but not without acting in haste and repenting in leisure. It takes the will to survive this world, and when calling it as you see it to make sure there is something still worth fighting for, after all the time to do good, make good, and keep it well enough off in this world of cobras or tarantulas.

2nd punisher officially. The web thickens, I picked up a raw copy to read too. it is such a dynamic issue! These are picking up in value yet get that story and see the Punisher beginnings! Yes, the read is well intertwined. Got to have the plot twist and the people going off the deep end! Origin of the Tarantula with his spikes and acrobats, and the fun ensues with people tracking Parker the Spider-man. Drama, a Soap Opera, and a bit of investigating, as the plot thickens for Amazing Spider-man, once again! It takes a broad road to get the viewpoint sometimes, while trusting that still small voice to stay on the straight and narrow. When it comes down to our personal actions, we all have to individually take responsibility, and that means the narrow path may be more the direct path but also the hardest. It is at its tipping point in this issue!
Complete with a raw copy in good condition, now added as back cover picture. It really is a great story of spin out, and a lot of questions asked that demand answers! The Punisher displayed in a splash page would be some great original art and a fine addition. I can dream! He still has an abrupt appearance and will be more thought out in following issues. Still knowing that at first the Spidey was his initial "mark?" Makes for some riveting collecting! $182 Cost.

1st Harry Osborn as the new Green Goblin. Could it be? Something begins anew. Almost picking up right where the old ends, Harry Osborn believes that he has a cause. A reason to strike at Peter Parker and Spider-man and to maybe even let the cat out of the bag on the secret identity. These are tough emotions for both Osborne and Parker to process. One is going maniacally out of control and down a spiral, while they are both helpless. Parker tries to strike some kind of peaceful bond, and that may work for a while. The inevitable is coming, it appears that it has been here the whole time. Only waiting to come to the surface. Harry continues a time-honored tradition for his family and circumstances, by making a big deal out of something small. All those small things have now added up to something more than he can handle. It's a hard knock life! $307 Cost.
Complete with a back cover picture of, "The Green Goblin!" Many have dawned a costume and cause, but to their own demise. From the Marvel Masterpiece Collection by Joe Jusko book four of four!

2nd appearance of Harry as the Green Goblin. Bought a raw to read, it's a decent crawl into madness for Harry! He tries to spill the beans that he was the Goblin, but the cops say he was too young to be, is Spidey's secret safe too? Life is tough when someone discovers the tools left behind by Norman. Harry now knows, and he will be rehabilitated to "forget" but he still "knows!" That will tip Spider-man off and even hack at his nerves for a while. Will someday it be safe for Peter and Spidey to walk down the street? It's a hard row to dig out what it all means, and he's had it up to this point, soon he will be able to breathe safely again. Harry or the Goblin kidnaps close Spidey allies, only to be thwarted by his own ego, which is really what makes a good Goblin character work! In times past Marvel has not been skimpy nor short with the head strong villains. No one may be able to compare with this branding of the original arch nemesis!
Complete with a back cover picture of some readers from the run, with #132 & #147, and the somewhat in transition Goblin plot spaced in-between! Keeping the stories alive and well, from the dollar bins mostly is where I found the readers! Readers that are one offs with characters that are pivotal to their story, but Spidey at this point in the run has to set things on the back burner to deal with the resulting Goblin ongoing hysteria! $141 cost.

Origin and 1st appearance of Mindworm, (William Turner) another "Marvel", and this worm has an egg head! Everyone has an ego, and if you're not careful, it'll ruin your life. It's nice to have ambition, but to have it properly placed is the key to being a super-hero! The Mindworm just tries to stick a plot device in that craw and have Spidey scrambling. He's set the stove to broil and wants to either; make you work for it or go around like a chicken without a head. Tricky worms that confound aren't all that easy to write for, nor portray. Is this the end of the story? With a little book knowledge, we'll see. As tightly wound Spidey has his motives or emotions shaken not stirred! A bit of a sticky wicket now as of 2023 with a modern type of story, with the writers' strike touching emotions along with nerves! It bears remembering that these are of a time and era where emotions ran high, and decisions were made to determine work completion in films among other media. Some good came of it, but that was a long story affecting all areas seemingly, and in the end, it gets restored but to what end is the point.
Complete with a back cover picture of the prescreen pass before released to theaters of the movie "The Creator!" A fictitious story? An "A.I." story at least with the unyielding need to have the wielding like mechanisms truck the plot with Mindworm "beings" that muck things about! There was a message with purpose detailed in the psyche of emotion. An especially modern tale with a trek across the META, similar to the Book of Eli movie and ASM #138 that see at what cost we are able to keep our chill. We see if "artificial intelligence" can muster the stamina. Creepy! I'll have no truck with those kinds of plots! $70 Cost.

Cyclone & Gwen Stacy clone appearance. Gerry Conway story, Ross Andru, Frank Giacoia & Dave Hunt art. Gil Kane & John Romita cover. Convincing enough to still cause bodily harm in the way of a fainting Aunt May, comes a Gwen clone, that even has Mary Jane inviting her up to the apartment for Peter. Well, she may still be good looking enough to cause a heart murmur or fainting spell, but without the bruised ego of the past dwelling on her physical person! Does this now recall for us the day when it all changed for a Spider-man, or does it go unnoticed within the archives? It was as in the beginning, and it wasn't that many issues ago either, which makes these circumstances very fresh on the minds of those at the time. Glad to have a VF+ added to the collection and with the heels cover that stops traffic, or at least the slow boat of Peter Parker's mind, as the Spider-man, whose cranium now might be reeling do to a short circuit.
Complete with a back cover picture of the prescreen pass to the movie before released publicly of, "Day of the Fight!" Showing the results of all the blunt jabs, and with what effects these blows can have in life. We need to know the day of battle and those recompenses that trust in an eternal outcome, lest we dwell on those debilitating effects within that main arena. Whether win or lose, such as the day of losing Gwen or gaining her back! We're still grateful for each day we have to live! Tomorrow not being promised, and as any Gwen can tell Spidey much to his dismay!
