Originally teamed with Batman in the title _Batman and the Outsiders_, this Outsiders series, created by Mike Barr and Jim Aparo, began in 1985 and features Geo-Force, Black Lightning, Metamorpho, Looker, Katana, and Halo. It consists of 28 issues, an Annual and a Special.
It may be the only super-hero team to feature an equal number of men and women, as well as a number of ethnically and racially diverse characters. In that sense, it is a groundbreaking series.
Jim Aparo did nearly all of the covers and art for the series.
The title has been rebooted (with different line-ups) a few times since the '80s.
