August, 1962 "Spider-Man!" - In this lead story, we meet Peter Parker, Midtown High's professional wallflower. Instead of heading to the school dance with Flash Thompson and others, he heads to a science demonstration. Something goes wrong, and Peter is bitten by an irradiated spider. On his way home, he realizes that he's developed the powers of a spider, and uses them for show business. First, he beats "Crusher" Hogan in a wrestling match, and then he ends up on the Ed Sullivan Show. Feeling rather full of himself, he doesn't intervene when the studio is robbed. When he gets home, he learns his Uncle Ben has been murdered by a robber now holed up in the old Acme Warehouse. He heads there as Spider-Man and captures the robber, who turns out to be the same man who robbed the TV studio. It is at this point that Peter learns that with great power, there must also come great responsibility.
"The Bill-Ringer!" - Pedros has rung the old church bells every day of his adult life. When a volcanic eruption threatens to destroy the island, he is the only inhabitant who does not leave, electing instead to stay and ring the bells, in hopes that someone may hear.
"The Man In The Mummy Case!" - Rocko Rank is a petty thief, trying to hide from police in a museum. A living mummy invites him to hide in his mummy case, but Rocko may find more than he bargained for.
"There Are Martians Among Us!" - Citizens are warned to remain home, as a spacecraft from Mars has crashed on Earth with unknown intentions. In spite of this warning, a housewife (who is afraid her husband will be upset if there is no coffee waiting for him when he gets home) decides to defy curfew and go out anyway, only to be captured by persons unknown.

March 1963 "Spider-Man" - after a quick recap of Spider-Man's origin from Amazing Fantasy #15, we get into the new story. The Parker family is very short on money, so Pete decides to go back to show business. Unfortunately, he's unable to cash a check made out to Spider-Man without legal identification in that name, so that doesn't work out very well. When J. Jonah Jameson starts writing editorials about how evil Spider-Man is, things get even worse. Spider-Man even saves Jonah's son John during a failed missile test, but Jonah doesn't let up, claiming Spider-Man sabotaged the test in the first place to garner attention for himself.
"Spider-Man vs. The Chameleon" - In his next attempt for money, Spider-Man publicly tries to join the Fantastic Four. This is when he learns they are a non-profit organization, and they aren't hiring or paying salaries. This does, however, draw the attention of the Chameleon, who then frames Spider-Man for his next robbery. Fortunately, Spider-Man manages to tear one of the Chameleon's costumes, revealing another underneath.
