Owner's Description

This 14.14 grams, .925 Ag, 32mm, Polish 10zl 100th Anniversary of the Voluntary Tatra Mountains Rescue Service (TOPR) coin had a limited mintage of 100,000 and has a very low NGC population of just 19. The obverse of this coin depicts In the right lower part the image of an eagle established for the national emblem of the Republic of Poland. In the lower part, to the left of the eagle, the year of issue: 2009. In the centre the TOPR badge – a blue cross on a white background with a brown rim, in which there is an inscription: -TATRZAŃSKIE-OCHOTNICZE POGOTOWIE- RATUNKOWE-1909 (-TATRA MOUNTAINS-VOLUNTARY-RESCUE SERVICE-1909). Under the cross a mountain pine twig. Underneath on the left an inscription: 10 ZŁ. In the background stylized fragments of motifs typical of the highland ornamentation. In the upper part a semicircular inscription: RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA (REPUBLIC OF POLAND). Under the left foot of the eagle a symbol of the mint: M/W. The reverse of this coin features on the left a stylized image of Mieczysław Karłowicz’s bust. In the background a stylized outline of the mountains of Mały Kościelec, Kościelec and Świnica. In the lower part an inscription: MIECZYSŁAW KARŁOWICZ. In the rim an inscription: 100. ROCZNICA POWSTANIA TATRZAŃSKIEGO OCHOTNICZEGO POGOTOWIA RATUNKOWEGO (100th ANNIVERSARY OF THE TATRA MOUNTAINS VOLUNTARY RESCUE SERVICE). This coin was designed by Dominika Karpińska-Kopiec.
