Owner's Description
This striking silver coin pays tribute to one of several maple species that are native to Canada: the silver maple (Acer saccharinum). This coin was designed by Canadian artist Pierre Leduc, and depicts three silver maple (Acer saccharinum) leaves. With their edges slightly furled, these leaves are positioned in a way that evokes memories of a beautiful autumn day in Canada – it is easy to imagine these leaves gently falling from the majestic silver maple tree onto the ground below. In the foreground, the largest leaf lies on its side as it stretches across the image field; its long petiole rests overtop the smaller, downward-facing leaf at far left. The large leaf’s bottom left lobe overlaps the base of a third leaf behind it. Beautiful engraving adds depth to the image by showcasing the silver maple’s deeply cut veins and serrate leaf margins.
