Owner's Description

This 5.00 grams, .835 Ag, 23mm, French 1 franc coin had a mintage of 3,200,000 and has a NGC population of just 14. This coin was engraved by Eugene-Andre Oudine and the obverse features a laureate head facing left with a six pointed star at top. The reverse depicts the value within an ornate wreath with lettering encircling it. There was a law passed in 1891 that authorized the circulation of 1 franc coins in Portugal with a value of 200 reis.This coin has been demonetized.
