Owner's Description
This 14.3837 grams, .925 Ag, 35mm, $2 Pitcairn Island Deep Sea Fish - Anoplogaster Cornuta (aka Fangtooth) coin had an extremely limited mintage of just 1,000 and has a very low NGC population of only 16. The obverse of this coin depicts the Fangtooth fish with date at upper right. The Fangtooth fish is named for their disproportionately large, fang-like teeth these deep sea fish are actually quite small and harmless to humans. In adults, the largest two fangs of the lower jaw are so long that the fangtooths have evolved a pair of opposing sockets on either side of the brain to accommodate the teeth when the mouth is closed. The reverse of this coin features a profile of Queen Elizabeth II and $2 denomination. This coin was minted at the New Zealand Mint.
