Owner's Description
The 15 star obverse is the most common of the three major 1797 half dime varieties. (There are actually two minor varieties of the 16 star coins.)"Common" is of course a relative term since the coin is rated an R-3 with less than 500 examples known.

This was the coin that I purchased for my type set, which is the reason why it is so much better than the other 1797 half dimes in my set. And you might expect it's also the most common variety that can be found in the higher grades.
