Owner's Description
This is my favorite silver three cent piece, the 1851-O. It is the only 19th century coin that a branch mint issued that was worth less than five cents.

These coins were made of 75% silver and 25% copper. The normal silver alloy is 90% silver and 10% copper. As a result of that many of these tiny coins have toned to unattractive colors. Finding an attractive example is harder that you might think.
