Owner's Description
The United States mint issued the silver clad Bicentennial John F. Kennedy half as a part of a special three piece coin set. These sets were issued in Mint State and Proof. The original packaging for the Mint State coins was most often a red envelope with the coins in housed in a flat pack. The Proof pieces were housed in capsules which were mounted in a blue cardboard holder.

These pieces featured a double date on the obverse (1776 – 1976) and a view of the back of Independence Hall in Philadelphia on the reverse. A similar, more attractive interpretation of this national landmark was featured on the reverse of the 1926 Sesquicentennial $2.50 gold piece.
