Owner's Description

Gilroy Roberts’ bust of President John F. Kennedy that appeared on this half dollar was based upon the artist’s 1960 inaugural medal. This borrowing from a previous work was due to the fact that Roberts had very little time between the death of the President on November 22, 1963 and the introduction of the coin which began in January 1964.<br /><br />The present example is a beautiful example of a deep cameo Proof. This is about as good as it gets for a clad Proof coin.
