Owner's Description
In 1866 mint personnel added the motto, “In God we trust,” to all of the coins that had designs that could accommodate the additional wording. The half eagle was among that group of coins. The U.S. mint system would issue this design continuously until it was replaced in mid 1908.
The coin show above is a beautiful example of the 1907-D half eagle. The Denver “mint,” had carried that name during the 19th century although it was only an assay office. Finally in 1906 the Denver facility began to produce coins, and Denver has been a location for a U.S. mint down to the present day.
