Owner's Description
The 1913 Buffalo Nickel, much like the 1909 VDB Lincoln Cent is another first-year/one-year variety. The reverse of this MS-62, 1913, "Type 1" or "Mound Type" Buffalo Nickel has the words "FIVE CENTS" in raised letters on the mound subjecting them to excessive wear. In that same year, a straight line with the denomination of the coin recessed underneath it replaced the mound on the reverse of the Buffalo nickel. Curiously enough, the date also subject to excessive wear remained without change. This particular nickel I received as a gift for my High School graduation in 1976.
