In 1969 the Central Bank released a new design of banknote, with the currency's unit changed from Peso to Piso. The new banknotes also changed to Filipino (Tagalog) text, replacing English. The notes feature Filipino heros on the obverse, while vignettes of Philippine history appear on the reverse.
These banknotes also have new security measures to safeguard against counterfeiting, including a watermark, vertical security thread, and a sprinkling of red and blue fibers on the note, plus an invisible florescent print, that is visible only under an ultra-violet light.
The 1st Pinoy text series also displayed a new style Centrl Bank Seal, which was now written in Tagalog, it declares ''Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas 1949'', in actual fact the Central Bank of the Philippines didn't become the Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas until 1993 when it's name was changed by Republic Act No.7653.
PRINTERS...
TDLR ...The De La Rue Company … 1, 50, 100 Piso
G&D .....Gieske and Devrient…......... 5, 10, 20 Piso ...These 3 notes were the only notes printed by G&D of Germany. Contrary to what Pick and PMG say, G&D only printed 3 notes, and they were in the 1969 Series. All issues after 1969 were printed by either TDLR or SSP in Manila, not G&D. (My source is Guy Davis)
