Greetings from Downunder,
I will be including a specialized listing for each of the Philippine banknotes I manage to post here. If possible, I will try to display "A" or 1st prefix notes, but if I can't, I'll endeavor to show a banknote of interest.
These specialized listings were first researched by the late Guy N. Davis, in his book "Collecting banknotes of the Central Bank of the Philippines", spanning the years 1949 to 1988,
The Davis book stops in 1988, it was then updated by Davis and Clifford Yu in 1993, and I've continued it up to date. I've done this through collecting, observations and the many documents obtained from the BSP, I was also helped by the "Unofficial" listings of 1985 issues by Jose (Peping) de Borja, released in 2004.
Since 1949 there have been over 500 different notes released into general circulation that we know of, plus around another 100+ Specimens and other non-circulating banknotes, most coming after dating started in 1997.
Banknotes are listed by serial number progression up to 1997, then by the dates that appear on the obverse left side under the denomination.
Some of the banknotes I list here might not be listed in the Pick catalogue, but every banknote listed is either owned by me, notes I have sighted firsthand, or notes I have officially been told existed by the BSP. (Of the normal issues I own all but 8 notes). There are a few notes listed in Pick that cannot exist, so I have not listed. (Like the 2009 P1000 with Aquino's signature it lists. Aquino became President June 2010).
There may be other notes I've missed and not listed, if you know of any, please contact me with your discovery.
There might also be some mistakes in my lists, spelling or typing errors, please help me correct it.
